WHY DO I SNEEZE WHEN I LOOK AT THE SUN?
Don’t worry, you’re not allergic to sunlight! Sun sneezing – also known as Autosomal Dominant Compelling Helio-Ophthalmic Outburst, or ACHOO syndrome –
is a reflex some people experience when looking at a very bright light like the sun.
This harmless reaction affects 18%-35% of people, and is believed by scientists to be a signal confusion linked to the nervous system.
Sneezing is a reflex, which means it happens automatically, and is completely out of your control.
This reaction has been found to be genetic; if one parent is a sun sneezer,
then around half of their kids will be too.
Remember, NEVER look directly at the sun!
If you want to find out if you are a sun sneezer,
you can look at the bright blue sky on a very sunny day and experience the same effect.
